I retrieved our food from the office fridge and even posted the last two blog posts, all before breakfast. Unfortunately although yesterday was a superb summer day, there was rain from the early hours which woke me up. It eased off at about 10am and that was enough to get us on the road. We got a bolt from the Mountain Man shop - recommended for getting bikes fixed. Then proceeded in the steady rain. We reached Mckeever early enough - the tendency is still downhill- then down the Moose River Road but missed the vital turning for the Booneville Road... When we reached Port Leyden we realised that we had gone off piste and so took the state Road 12 to Booneville, 8 mile detour into a headwind with steady rain. Then to Leyden where I realised my tyre was going flat so changed the tube. Then six miles later another puncture. Seemed unconnected with the first but perhaps two bits of one piece of metal. But that has used up all our spare tubes and our repair kit has no solvent courtesy of airline flight rules. Hmm. Just a few instant patches.... Reached Osceola and then found the campsite three miles out of town. Raining very heavily now. We were encouraged to use the pavilion to sleep in- given the forecast. And so that's where I am now typing away. Just hope we have no punctures tomorrow and the rain eases off. Sun would be nice. This is snowmobile territory in winter, people dressed in snow gear flying over snowdrifts.
